The title and inspiration of this piece is taken from Barbara Jane Reyes's poem The True Color of The Sea. The piece is built around three distinct musical characters — light, smoke, and mist. Over time, these musical characters become increasingly interactive with each other and eventually form a new texture that involves all three sounding simultaneously.
