Karen Rosenak (piano) recently retired as senior lecturer at UC Berkeley, where she taught musicianship and chamber music beginning in 1990. As a student she studied piano with Carlo Bussotti and Nate Schwartz, and fortepiano with Margaret Fabrizio. While teaching full time at UCB, she also served as pianist and founding member of San Francisco-based Earplay and the Empyrean Ensemble at UC Davis. She has performed with other Bay Area new music ensembles, including Left Coast and the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players. Although she has retired from university teaching, she maintains an active performing schedule. In summer of 2016 she will be teaching fortepiano and performing with the New Esterhazy Quartet in conjunction with its summer classical music workshop offered through the San Francisco Early Music Society, and she will appear with vocalist Karen Clark in a Humanities West event in fall of 2016.
